Medical Services

Clinical – Home Visits

Home visits take several times longer than a surgery consultation.  Facilities at the Surgery are far better for examination and treatment.  We do understand that it is sometimes impossible for some patients to attend surgery and are happy to visit the housebound and infirm at home.  If possible, please ring the Surgery before 10.30am if a home visit is needed.  Please remember lack of transport is not a reason for a home visit.  We expect patients to use public transport.

Clinical – Cervical Smears

A recall system is currently available in Wales.  The system will recall women aged between 25 and 49, every three years for routine smears. Women aged 49 and over are recalled every 5 years. The Practice Nurses will carry out most of the routine smears.

Clinical – Diabetic Clinics

Diabetic Clinics are held at the surgery. Before the Diabetic Clinic is held patients that have made an appointment for this clinic must allow 2 weeks for Diabetic bloods to be taken. These diabetic clinics are held alternative weeks by first seeing the Sister on duty where she will need a sample of urine and weight etc will be taken. Advise on Glucose monitoring will be given as well, the Diabetic doctor will then consult with you with regards to the blood results. DO NOT FORGET THE BLOOD TEST 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE DIABETIC CLINIC.

Clinical – Immunisations

Seasonal Influenza and Shingles Vaccinations are available each year from September, please enquire with reception whether you fit in the criteria and if you do please make an appointment.

Clinical – Medication Advice

Medication advice can be obtained from your local Pharmacist, if then you are not satisfied with the result please contact the surgery and ask the receptionist to consult the doctor for you or alternatively make a routine appointment with the available doctor.

Clinical – Well Woman Clinics

If you are concerned regarding your health please do not hesitate to contact the surgery for an appointment with Nurse Cronick and she will do their very best to put you in the correct direction. We do not hold a specific Family Planning Clinic. Any contraceptive advice can be received by making a routine appointment with either a doctor or nurse.

Clinical – Medicals

Medical reviews can be dealt with by a doctor, when blood pressure etc will be taken, if a medical for HGV or Taxis etc are needed then an appointment must be made for the doctor. There is normally a fee for this.

Clinical – Antenatal Care

We have a Midwife that attends surgery. Appointments must be made with reception. We provide full antenatal and postnatal care.

Clinical – Asthma / COPD Clinics

These will be held at surgery, patients will automatically be recalled every year.
